Five Element Acupuncture, Physical Therapy & Prices

Clean Slate Approach

I use techniques developed by Medical Doctors and Naturopaths, to release old trauma from the body, and reframe the experience in a new way. I call this the Clean Slate approach. It can be done in person or on a Zoom call, and I have found that people always express how positive the experience was for them afterwards. It takes about 90 minutes to do a full treatment.

Five Element Acupuncture

I practice Five Element Acupuncture which is based on Classical Chinese Medicine.

The first session is 1.5 hours and it includes an intake, an evaluation of elemental energies, and a treatment to clear blockages and balance emotional and physical aspects of overall Health. The sessions include moxibustion, needling, and suggestions for Essential Oils and Flower essences, as well as visual images and relaxation postures for improved flexibility and reduction in stress.

What patients come to me for: back and neck pain, headaches and migraines, stress and anxiety, trouble sleeping, fatigue and low energy, trauma and PTSD, and prevention to stay well. I see patients at Bow Sanctuary on Chuckanut Drive, between Bellingham and Mount Vernon.

First session: $165 if not covered by medical insurance
Following 1-hour sessions are $125, unless covered by insurance, where there may be a copay or coinsurance.

Insurance: some plans from Regence, Premera, Aetna and Community Health Plan of Washington may cover your visits. Ask when you book and I’ll check yours.

Pediatric Therapy for Children Ages 3–6

I work with children that are ages 3-6, using a specialized form of therapy called Dynamic Movement Intervention. This is taught by two practitioners, Jake Kreindel, PT and Jo-Anne Weitzman, PT.

“DMI Therapy Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a therapeutic technique used in physical and occupational therapy to treat children with motor delay by improving automatic postural responses and promoting progress towards developmental milestones. The goal of DMI is to provoke a specified active motor response from the child in response to defined dynamic exercises performed by the therapist. DMI stimulates neuroplasticity to facilitate new neuronal connections, neuronal maturity and development of motor milestones. DMI is based on the following theoretical foundations – Neuronal Group Selection Theory, Neuroplasticity and Maturational Theory.” By DMI staff

Yin & Restorative Yoga

I teach Yoga for those who have beginner to intermediate level of Yoga experience. I teach a combination of Yin and Restorative Yoga, with occasional use of Kundalini Yoga meditations. I do a series of 6 sessions, April, June, August, and October. The focus is on seasonal changes, immune system function, and de-stress/relaxation. The cost is $72.00 for a six week session.

There are no classes running right now. If you’d like to join the next series, contact me.

Volunteer Work

My other class is called Yoga In Solidarity, and it taught as a way to bring funding to causes related to bridging the gap between people, helping people to get to know each other without politics interfering with the experience. One event raised money for First Responders in Whatcom County after the Outbreak of COVID-19, when we relied heavily on emergency responders to help people to get to hospitals and get the care they needed. .
